Lessons of Ramadan 2026

The teachings of Mawlaya Seydi Mouhamed ElCheikh for this year’s Ramadan have begun and can be followed on the Daahiratoul Imaane channels on TikTok, Youtube and Spotify.  On the first day, he began by thanking Allah for allowing us to reach this blessed month. Many wished to experience it but did not live to see it. Simply being here is an immense favor. Ramadan is not an ordinary month. If believers truly understood its value, they would wish for it to last the entire year.

Allah says: “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.”
Ramadan therefore begins with gratitude. Thanking Allah opens the doors to spiritual growth.

Sangue bi also reminds us that Dhikr — the remembrance of Allah — benefits the believers. But it is not merely about repeating words. True Dhikr is a living connection between the servant and his Lord. At a higher level, it is no longer only the tongue that invokes, but the heart.

🔐 The Spiritual Chests

Sangue bi explains that every human being possesses “spiritual chests” created by Allah. These chests must be filled with:

  • Sincere prayers
  • Authentic fasting
  • Deep dhikr

But a prayer without concentration fills nothing. A fast reduced to mere hunger does not transform the soul. And dhikr without the presence of the heart remains limited. Ramadan is a school that disciplines the Nafs (the ego) and elevates the Ruh (the spirit).

The Primordial Covenant

Before our birth, Allah questioned the souls: “Am I not your Lord?” Children of Adam answered in the affirmative.

We all carry this commitment. Ramadan is a reminder of this covenant. It is a return to our spiritual responsibility.

Laylatul Qadr

The Night of Decree (Laylatul Qadr) is better than a thousand months. This demonstrates Allah’s immense generosity. Whoever fully benefits from Ramadan may obtain a reward beyond measure.

Avoiding Confusion

Mawlaya Seydi Mouhamed ElCheikh then emphasizes the danger of confusion.

First confusion: Believing that religion is limited to texts without seeking the wisdom behind them. Knowledge is not confined to what is written. There is a spiritual knowledge that is lived and transmitted through the education of the heart and soul.

Second confusion: Spiritual wandering — acting without knowing whether what one is doing is truly loved by Allah. When Yaqīn (inner certainty) disappears, the path toward Allah becomes fragile.

The Example of the Fasting Person’s Breath

The Prophet ﷺ said that the “smell from the mouth of the fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk”.

Sangue bi explains that this does not mean neglecting hygiene. Islam is a religion of cleanliness.

The true meaning is that what comes out of the fasting person’s mouth — his words, his recitation of the Qur’an, his dhikr — becomes precious in the sight of Allah. It is not unpleasant odors that are valued, but good speech, obedience, patience, and sincerity.

If the mouth is used to recite the Qur’an, to make dhikr, to speak truthfully, it becomes “spiritual musk”. But if it is used to backbite, insult, or hurt others, the fast loses its depth.

The Real Objective of Ramadan

Ramadan is not merely about being hungry, waiting for sunset, or following a schedule. Its goal is an outward and inward transformation that consists of:

  • Improving one’s prayers
  • Controlling one’s speech
  • Purifying one’s behavior
  • Elevating the heart and soul
  • Drawing sincerely closer to Allah

The Human Being: An Enigma

Sangue bi reminds us that the human being is in loss, except those who have faith, perform righteous deeds, and adopt exemplary conduct. Success is not limited to visible acts. It rests on balance between the visible world (Shahada) and the unseen world (Ghayb), between the body and the soul.

Conclusion

Ramadan is a spiritual school meant to fill our inner chests. It brings us back to our covenant with Allah, purifies the soul, and elevates the spirit.

But to achieve this, one must avoid confusion, seek wisdom, maintain certainty, and truly transform one’s behavior.

May Allah allow us to live this Ramadan with sincerity, depth, and elevation, and make us transformed servants in this world and the next.
